We had an amazing time at The Phoenix Hostel! The staff, especially Peter, were super friendly and helpful. The hostel had a great vibe and the rooftop bar was a perfect spot to hang out in the evenings. We loved having a bathroom in our room and the location was central, well connected, and felt super safe. It was great being able to walk to so many attractions and not having to rely on taxis. Highly recommended for any young travelers looking for a fun and affordable place to stay in Shanghai!
Felt like VIPs, nothing to complain about!

The hostel staff was welcoming and accommodating, with excellent English-speaking reception. They organized group activities for solo travelers and had a rooftop bar with great views of Shanghai. The location was fantastic, with a short walk to the metro and plenty of restaurants nearby. The rooms were clean and the complimentary breakfast and beer were a nice touch.
Can't fault the property in any way.

Basic room, private bathroom, social rooftop, perfect for sleeping. Good place to chill and socialize. Effort and love put into it, one of the best places I've stayed. Helpful staff, authentic Chinese experience in the area, close to important points. Excellent curtains, quiet at night, comfortable beds. Great rooftop bar, friendly staff, mahjong and beers with travelers. Convenient location, walkable to attractions, nearby convenience stores and restaurants. Would definitely return.

Great Location, center of the city. It was easy to reach an mtr and also to take a short walk or taxi to our destination. The front desk was very helpful in locating all locations we had in mind.
Maybe keep a receipt when depositing bags to the storage room, just so no one can ask for someone else's bag.

Location, close to city center and shopping area
a little bit noisy, full of leek smell in the hallway because there is a dumpling restaurant downstairs

I loved everything about the Phoenix. The rooms were comfortable...the beds were large in the twin suite. The room was spacious. The staff was very polite and accommodating and spoke english. The location was 3 blocks from the Metro and walking distance to Nanging Rd and the Bund. The rooftop bar was a great place to meet people after a day of shopping. The bartender Fei Fei was very friendly and accommodating. I would definitely go back.

The hostel had a great location near many tourist sites and was easily accessible through public transportation. The rooftop bar was a highlight with its friendly staff, delicious food, and great views. It was the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a cold beer after a long day of exploring.
There were a couple of downsides to the hostel. The first was the unpleasant frying smell that persisted in the room from morning till late evening, which made the stay less enjoyable.

Great location, most of Shanghai's sights are within walking distance. It's located on a recommended food street. The hostel has a roof top bar for residents and the restaurant attached it is pretty good (popular with locales too).

I loved the colourful-haired girl and the new guy who were so friendly and helpful. The hostel organized activities like a market trip and had spacious, clean dorms with great showers. The rooftop terrace was perfect for relaxing and meeting other travelers.
Felt so at home here, nothing was too much trouble.
